Thank you so much, Jon. I love your site too. Such wonderful photos and plants. And you don't even seem to flag in this wretched summer heat!

Yes, these are annual sweet peas. Some years they are spectacular like this; some not. Usually I plant them in October and half of them get killed by frost. This year nearly all of them got killed, so I replanted in January in the veg garden. I think they liked the compost or manure!

Oh, I love these. I'm assuming these are the annual sweet pea - and not the perennial? I've had hit or miss luck with them here in Charleston - so, when did you plant yours in the ground to get such a gorgous bunch of them?

How stunning! I didn't even know that sweet peas came in all those colors. I planted mine in late winter and they've grown a couple of feet tall but have no flowers... apparently they wanted cow manure. Thanks for the photos, Karen!

It must be the cow manure and maybe your green thumb! My sweet peas are still less than a foot tall. I just hope they get to blooming size before it gets hot.

I order new seed. I used to get them from Thompson and Morgan. This year, I got them from Territorial Seed--several varieties for mixed color and bloom time. They are particularly fine this year.

Hi Karen, what magnificent sweet peas. And what a pleasant task, trying to keep up with the picking. Do you save seed or order new? Where do you get your seed? Ours just started blooming this week, after much eating by the rabbits in the beginning. They are mixed in with the sugar snap peas which have white flowers.
