Oh, I didn't know that. It would make sense as a matter of fact. Thanks, Liz.

Jodi: I moved here from New York, so I long accepted that spring bulbs here are going to make a poor showing because they don't get enough winter chill. But a couple of years ago in Charleston I saw some lovely displays of spring bulbs and decided it was time to try harder. Maybe Charlestonians plant hundreds ever year. I don't know. I expect at least some of mine to naturalize.

Barbara: We're supposed to be Zone 8b, but lots of Zone 8 things won't grow here, so I think we are really Zone 9.

How lovely to have a daffodil in bloom ... ours are buried under lots and lots of snow and won't be up for a few months yet.

Our daffodils are just coming out of the soil. I guess they'll bloom in about a month...around Easter. We also call them "Easterbells"...What zone do you live?

Hmmmm. Here, bulbs don't all flower at once ,so maybe things are just starting to wake up and get going. I'm quite a bit further north than you, so perhaps a more southerly gardener could offer more valuable comment.
